The AWS platform can also be used to further enhance and complement Amazon Connect through the migration of on-premise infrastructure and applications to the cloud. Data Storage

Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) is a web interface based unlimited object data store. It is highly scalable and flexible and can be used seamlessly with Analytics tools.

Elastic Block Storage (Amazon EBS) provides block level storage volumes for use with EC2 instances. EBS volumes are highly available and reliable storage volumes that can be attached to any running instance that is in the same Availability Zone.


Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) is a web service that provides secure, resizable compute instances in the cloud. It provides complete control of computing resources and runs on Amazon’s proven computing environment. It is easy to quickly scale capacity, both up and down, as computing requirements change. Pricing is based on a pay-as-you go model.


AWS provides a wide range of databases that can be used for specific use cases. Both relational and non-relational databases are available to handle specific application needs.

Relational databases store data with pre-defined schema and relationships between them, designed for supporting ACID transactions, maintaining referential integrity, and data consistency.

AWS offers relational database services in the form of Amazon Aurora, Amazon RDS and Amazon redshift to support traditional applications I.e Oracle, SQL Server, MYSQL

AWS offers a key-value based database with the Amazon DynamoDB service to support large scale internet applications that require large volume and optimised responses.


Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC) allows provision of a logically isolated section of the AWS Cloud where AWS resources can be launched in a virtual network defined by clients.

The network configuration for the Amazon VPC can be easily customised. The VPC provides multiple layers of security, including security groups and network access control lists, to help control access to Amazon EC2 instances in each subnet.


The AWS platform gives security the highest priority and clients can take advantage of this as they only pay for services they use. This enables the required security but without the capital and upfront costs.

AWS provides several security capabilities and services to increase privacy and control network access. These include:

  • Network firewalls built into Amazon VPC, and web application firewall (WAF) capabilities in can create private networks, and control access to instances and applications
  • Encryption in transit with TLS across all services
  • Connectivity options that enable private, or dedicated, connections from your office or on-premises environment

Amazon CloudWatch is a monitoring and management service that collects monitoring and operational data in the form of logs, metrics, and events. It has the ability to :

  • monitor applications
  • understand and respond to system-wide performance changes
  • optimize resource utilization
  • Provide a unified view of operational health

CloudWatch can set high resolution alarms, visualize logs and metrics side by side, take automated actions, troubleshoot issues, and discover insights to optimize your applications, and ensure they are running smoothly.
